For the next step in our workload campaign, SSU has won the employer’s co-operation in co-hosting a work-time session with Dr David Posen, author of Is Work Killing You? A Doctor’s Prescription for Treating Workplace Stress.
One session has already been held. The next is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26 from 1pm to 4pm.
RSVP and take Posen’s short work-live balance survey here
Over his long career as a doctor in Ontario, Posen has seen first-hand the damage unchecked workplace stress can do to workers and managers:
- Spiralling mental illness for individual workers and managers
- Reduced productivity and power for their organizations.
The good new is that small changes can yield big benefits.
Posen identifies the three biggest problems that contribute to burnout and low productivity: volume, velocity, and abuse. He says workplaces are more toxic than ever, but offers practical advice and easy techniques for managing workloads and reducing the harmful effects of stress.
Witty, engaging, and accessible, Posen will will walk us through some of the tried-and-true actions workers and managers need to take to tackle chronic workload issues and the dangerous stress they can cause.
Please join us in one of these important sessions. By forging with our managers a common understanding of the actions we must all take to address overwork, we’ll be able to move more quickly to a healthier workplace and even stronger support for OPSEU/SEFPO and its members.
